Does Your Teenager Need Help becoming Their Best Selves?
Instead, bring them to our Taekwondo School instead! Teenagers are smart and capable-but they can also be their own worst enemies. Between peer pressure, their innate urge to rebel against their parents, and their surging hormones, they can be impossible to be around. But all they need is an outlet for their frustrations-and an opportunity to learn how to be their BEST.
BOOST
SELF-CONFIDENCE
Practicing Taekwondo as it provides with a full body and mind workout that is not only beneficial to maintain a healthy physical body but can also help boost confidence. Students may be faced with a multitude of issues such as being a subject of bullying, societal pressure to act in a certain way, and peer pressure. In these instances, the practice of Taekwondo can help to realize their Self-Worth, helps boost their Self-Confidence and Self-Esteem by way of developing mental fortitude and grit resilience. For example, our program follows the belt rank system wherein one works their way up to being promoted and earning different belts as per their skills. As you watch your child being “promoted” and being valued for their position, Self-Confidence, and Self- Esteem continue to rise.
RESPECT
THEMSELVES & OTHERS,
DISCIPLINE TRANSLATES TO SCHOOL, HOME & BEYOND
Teens sometimes seems to be all attitude and no respect- in fact, it can seem like they go out of the way to disrespect all authority figures. In our Taekwondo School, respect is a core discipline. Students must treat their Masters, Instructors and fellow students with respect at all times. Ultimately, teens who study Taekwondo learn that when they respect themselves, others will respect them too.
Teenagers tend to take the easy way out when presented with challenges at home and at school. Taekwondo Classes teach students to discipline themselves in the pursuit of desired goals. As they achieve their goals, they learn to appreciate the role that discipline played in getting them there.
BETTER FITNESS
The benefits of Taekwondo are numerous. Focus, Self-Confidence, Self-Control, Self-Defense, Concentration, just to name a few. To focus specifically on teenagers however, additional benefits from Taekwondo can be FITNESS. Teenagers are quickly growing into their bodies. At this point in their life, physical conditioning such as the Martial Arts is a great way to build to neurological connections between the brain and muscles for better coordination and balance that will be used the rest of their life. While this is true with any sports, Taekwondo has one advantages, it doesn’t have to be competitive. This leads to less frustration, less injuries, and therefore a much more positive atmosphere which leads to greater success and longevity.
LEARNING
SELF-DEFENSE
There are lots of benefits to gain when learning Self-Defense techniques, these benefits will not only make you feel more secure, it will also increase security- awareness and fitness. Every class, teens will learn how to escape quickly by disabling attackers but the most important safety tip they will learn is, the levels of safety they feel measurable. When teens train regularly, they start to understand what their bodies are capable of, how their bodies respond to threats and stress, and what others are capable of. Knowing these things help decrease the risk of being surprised and freezing up.

My daughter Abby has start taking Taekwondo the very first month that Master Lee opened the Yongin Lee’s Martial Arts school here in Midland, Texas. Over the past six years, I have had the opportunity to see the school grow, and watch my daughter grow into happy and successful teenager. Through her Taekwondo training, Abby has developed confidence, social skills, respect, focus and perseverance, in a fun and healthy environment. Abby has had the chance to travel out of town for competition, as well as to South Korea to train and practice Tae Kwon Do, all while learning and experiencing the culture as well. Given the good times, great friends and wonderful memories that Abby has enjoyed during her time at Taekwondo school, I would strongly encourage everyone to start training today!

“I like Taekwondo (at YLMA) because they work really hard to teach us, and they teach us obedience, love, cooperation, faithfulness, respect, honesty, compassion, mercy, and persistence. I am learning those things, and I want other kids to learn it too. I don’t have a favorite thing about Taekwondo because ALL of it is always fun!!”
